Shrewsbury Library

Shrewsbury Library is housed in a Grade 1 listed building situated on Castle Gates near Shrewsbury Castle and is the main hub for our vibrant Kids Zone at the festival.

Our partners Redan Publishing, who publish top selling comics like Peppa Pig and Sparkle World and will be running exciting free events and activities for younger children aged 3 – 9 years at the library all weekend.

The site was the home of Shrewsbury School from 1550 until 1882 where Charles Darwin himself was taught and his statue still sits proudly in the front courtyard to this day.

The buildings were handed over to the town in 1882 and a free library and museum were opened by The Corporation of Shrewsbury on the site in 1885.
